Web Site Traffic - Not All Web Site Traffic Is Equal

Web site traffic is an obsession for most affiliate marketers. You are encouraged to get as much traffic to your affiliate marketing site and you will make some money. Here is the pin in the balloon. Driving traffic to your web site will not necessarily make you money. What you need to focus your attention on is increase web site traffic that is targeted.

Increasing targeted traffic to your web site is key

And what is targeted traffic. This is a stream of visitors to your website that are genuinely interested in the information contained there in. Imagine a stream of people who are looking for, hungry for, desperate for the information you have. This is targeted website traffic

Imagine the conversions on your web site with such a flow of visitors. Having this properly set up leaves you free to continually improve the content of your site.

So how do you increase targeted traffic to your web site?

  • Be clear about who your customers are. Before you throw out the line you need to know what fish you are aiming to catch. You could go out and catch lots of fish, but if they are not what you need, what a wasted day. You need to identify who your customers are. To successfully do this, take a long hard look at your website and try and identify what needs it caters to.
  • Stop wasting time and money on general traffic generating methods. You can spend a lot of time on getting links from every blog online and participating in forums that are not remotely related to your niche. Or spend hours on traffic exchanges clicking away till your fingers are numb. Yes you will probably increase the traffic to your site. But what is the point if they click to another site without blinking an eye.
  • Focus your advertising or traffic generation efforts in areas where your potential customers are. If you want to catch Salmon, then go to streams teaming with…. Salmon. It is all basic common sense really! Do not waste another minute on general discussion sites.

So how do you find where your potential visitors hang out?

  • Visit niche specific forums. Forums are interactive sites where people can leave comments or ask questions. Lurk in forums related to your niche. Read the posts. Identify questions that you can authoritatively answer and post your response with a link to your website included. It is not only the person who asked the question that will see your post. If it is a high traffic forum, there is the potential for hundreds of people to see your response and perhaps visit your web site.

  • Find search engine groups related to your niche. Join these groups and actively participate in the groups. Give useful tips. Always remember to add a link to your website in each and every post you submit

  • Optimize your website for certain keywords that are specific to your niche. Make sure that your SEO is good so that your site will rank high in the search engines. That way when a web surfer wants to find out something specific in your niche, they will easily find your website. This actually means your traffic comes looking for you, rather than you go looking for your traffic

  • Write articles that are specific to your niche and very informative. Do some SEO on your article so that it ranks high with the search engines. Put a link with a keyword anchor tag in your resource box. Make your article so informative and specific to your niche that your potential visitors to want to click on your link

  • Write a free report giving a solution for a specific niche related problem. Distribute this report free on the internet. On every page of a report have a link back to your website. When people come across your report, if it is truly insightful, they are highly likely to click to your site

With the above tips on how to increase web site traffic that is targeted, you will see results only when you apply them
